What to pack
or not to pack...that is the question!
Bedding:
If
you wish to bring his/her bedding please do not
bring anything that can't be washed with bleach.
Or might be irreplaceable. All articles brought
in with pets will be returned clean as we
frequently wash bedding belonging to a pet
guest.
Items
From Home:
Pets use articles
brought in with them as toys and chewing play
things, so please do not bring any item which
you do not wish to be chewed.
Also, large
foam or cedar filled pet beds are difficult for
us to wash so we discourage you from bringing
large beds unless they have a removable cover
. Shores
Kennels provides comfy bedding such as
blankets, molded pet beds and fleece throws to
cover the floor of our suites.
Items from home
might include toys, towels, small blankets, etc.
for these items will contain your household
smells and make the pet feel more comfortable
while away from home. Please limit the number
of items to 2 or 3 pieces.
Label all items
with your last name and the pets name.
Do not bring your pet’s favorite toy
- bring new toys that will stimulate your pet’s
interest. We
will take every care with your pet's
possessions, but we will not be responsible for
items lost or eaten. Keep in mind we do not
guarantee return of these items - please only
bring items you consider to be “disposable”.
Bowls:
We use
stainless steel bowls that are washed and
sanitized after each use so you do not need to
bring bowls from home.
Veterinary Information:
Please don't
forget your current vaccination records! See
above or call your Veterinarian to verify you
pet has all the required vaccinations.
Leash
and Collar: Please make sure when
you arrive at Shores Kennels,
you bring your
pet into the drop off area on a leash. For
safety we remove all choke chains collars,
harnesses and leather collars and we return them
to you along with your leash. We will put an
ID
collar on your dog.
Emergency Contact
Numbers:
Every attempt will be made to provide the
care necessary for your pet should an emergency
occur. It is important that you leave a phone
number where you can be reached or an emergency
contact person so that communication between you
and the veterinarian can take place in a timely
manner. If there is an emergency, we contact
your veterinarian first. If he or she is
unavailable, we contact
our veterinarian.
Then we call you at the emergency number you
provide. Please notify us about any pertinent
medical history or problems with your pet that
may spontaneously reoccur.
If
Someone Else Drops Off or Picks Up Your Pet For
You: If you have made arrangements
for someone else to drop off or pick up your pet
for boarding please let Shores Kennels
know who that authorized person is. We do not
accept or release pets from other than the owner
unless prior arrangements have been made. Your
dog's presence here will not be acknowledged to
anyone other that authorized persons. We do not
allow 'visits' by family members or friends
while you are away. While it might make you
feel better the pet does not understand and will
get stressed out. You may call at any time
during business hours to inquire about your pet.
|
Our client records and
reservations are kept on a custom software package. This
program has an individual file for each pet with information
about his or her needs, including, but not limited to, health
requirements, such as medications, special behavior issues and
vaccination history. It will also alert us to expired vaccines.
It will schedule grooming and play sessions and keep a history
of past boarding visits.
Any information related to your
pet's behavior or personality traits that may be important to
his care should be written down. For example if your pet is
afraid of storms or a fence climber, we need to know!
Arrival and Check
In Procedures

Our arrival or check in procedure
is very simple. Upon arrival you will see a "fenced" area
outside our office. If the area is
unoccupied
you may
place your pet in that area and remove all collars and leashes
and take them with you, there is a sign with instructions. As we
have been expecting you, there is a run already set up in the
kennel with a
RUN CARD,
identifying your pets individual sleeping area.
An attendant is usually
immediately available will ask your name and will fit your pet
with an ID
collar,
you may give the attendant any personal items and food at this
time. We ask that medications be brought into the office so we
may fill out the appropriate chart for administration of meds
and get specific instructions. We will verify your pick up date
and time, go over any special requests you may have, verify
emergency contact numbers,
shot records
and
'check in' your pet. If you are a first time visitor we will
give you a
contract
to read and sign. It contains important information regarding
our policies along with our
business hours. We will give you a
copy for your records. We usually update this form every
visit.
If you have any questions or
would like to contact us while you are on vacation feel free!
We welcome inquiries about your pet is doing and we love to
hear how great your vacation is going! .
