My name is Gina Vesco, welcome to the Shores Kennels

Here you will find ALL the information you need to make an informed decision about boarding your pet. It may be a little verbose but I think you will learn that this was not something I just decided to make a career of when other jobs didn't work out. This has been a lifelong dream come true from a very very young age.
The back story associated with how I ended up doing what I love is pretty unique. This was my first job. I started working here in 1973 at the age of 15. I fell in love with this place and I had always told the previous owner
"If you ever sell this place let me know". Well 13 years later, she remembered, and one day told me that she was ready to retire.
I took the leap and have been the owner and operator of our little pet resort, since 1986.
At 52 years old I realize how lucky I had been to have that opportunity back then, which now translates to 38 years of dog handling experience.
Not many kennel operators can say that about themselves.
My home is located on the same grounds as the kennel which enables me to be only a few steps from my guests.
That means... I don't go home at the end of the day,
I am at home.

I hope by reading through it you will get a sense of the dedication that we have toward providing your family member with the best experience we possibly can at an affordable price. Being multiple pet owners ourselves we know how costly care can be and will do our best to enable you to be able to get the best care in town AND enjoy your vacation with peace of mind.
There are several styles of pet lodging. So make sure you are choosing the best style for your pet. Many facilities are all INDOORS...if you pet is a flight risk, these are just fine. BUT, if your pet is a normal happy and well adjusted dog, he or she needs the fresh air, exercise and stimulation our type of resort provides.

We do not discriminate against 'bully breeds', unaltered pets, dogs of advanced age, or those who require special needs such as medications. Your pet will NOT have to submit to a 'personality test'. We know, from nearly four decades of experience and handling thousands of dogs how they think... we have seen every temperament type there is. We can handle your pet, even those with personality quirks. We have never 'uninvited' a guest.
We are one of the original pet boarding facilities in the county and amongst the most professional and experienced in handling all breeds of dogs in all stages of their life. From puppies to geriatric guests and all those in between.

Our charming estate is located on Harper Avenue, on 1.5 beautiful acres, it is dedicated to the comfort and care of dogs, cats and even the occasional bird & bunny. We are in close proximity to major highways (I-94, I-696 & M-59) making us accessible from the northern suburbs of New Baltimore, Chesterfield or the Grosse Pointes within 10 minutes.
Located 3/4 of a mile off of the
Harper South exit 234A.
